Birthday Party for Katherine

You may not know, or maybe you do. But I created a blog over on wordpress (I think I like it's functionality a lot better by the way). This blog is for my photography that I'm trying to get better at a place to post pictures that I've taken, and challenges that I've participated in.

I'm working on becoming a photographer ... and everyone has to START somewhere right??

I have a lot of things that I need to update on here, but for now I'll just inform you that we held Katherine's 10th birthday party this afternoon. I lucked out that the Sun came out and was shining and things started to feel warm for the three hours we scheduled for her party. And then of course, as soon as the end time came, the sprinkling started again.

And within an hour Chris and I went to a park and took our mitts and softball and warmed up playing catch and then had another couple and a few others join up and had some fun batting and fielding balls. Although, we tried to avoid the actual infield spot because it was nothing but MUD. So much fun, we have decided to keep going every Saturday while they do this.

But here are a few pictures from this afternoon, of which I had a ton of fun taking the pictures, and playing with my REALLY new camera and NEW lens. I've only had the camera for one month almost, and I just bought a new lens on Friday --- and I'm loving it so far!!

My Beautiful Daughter.....

The other day I decided to have some experimenting fun and take some shots of Katherine. I'm not a photographer by any means, but have a goal to someday get to that point. But I am all about preserving memories through photographs, and I really like the ones I took. So I decided to make a few pages using just some of the pictures that we took.



Okay so I had A LOT of fun doing this one. It took me a few tries to get it just how I like it, but WOW!! What a fun effect. I'll have to try this with some of my other pictures too!! I followed a tutorial that I found here. I can't think of a better way for me to remember my kids.

Katherine is such a great kid, (most of the time) she's helpful and happy, and really likes to have fun. She's goofy and silly, and loves to make Chris and I laugh.

It's now officially May 23, 2009 which means my little SMARTIE PANTS is now 9 years old !!

Happy Birthday Smartie Pants

These are pictures of my dear sweet Smartie Pants she always seems to come up with ways to be creative, clever, or just plain SILLY!! She is a great part of our family and such a great HELP to me. I love the way she helps her younger siblings and the way that she soaks us knowledge. And can you believe that this child LIKES to watch ANIMAL PLANET !!

She likes to read, to "dance", watching movies, playing outside, she likes bugs, she climbs TREES!! She is so much like her DAD !! A total smart alec,and tries to be a FRIEND to everyone. She tries to make everyone feel included, and is always asking questions !! She likes to take charge with watching her younger brothers and does everything she can to make them feel loved. She's into ART!! She likes to draw, and create things. She likes just about everything she gets for dinner and she is willing to try new things at least once, and can usually fine creative ways to convince others to try it too.

Sweetheart, I just want to let you know that I love you and I'm so glad that you are a part of our family. You find ways to try and make me laugh and make things feel not so bad. You are a good, hard worker and really try to solve all problems that come up. I'm glad I can count on you to locate anything I "lose" or "forget" where I put it. You always put a smile on my face, and Dad and I will always love you and be glad that you are part of our family.

Katherine's getting Baptized

My Sweet Daughter Katherine is getting baptized on Saturday -- so I made this invitation and thought it to be just adorable. I used some elements from my friend Christina who designs. So I thought that I'd share it.

So if any of my friends that are close by want to come, feel free.

Last year, we went through the same thing, only with Kaylee. It's such a special occasion, and we're excited that she has made this decision. It will be a wonderful day.

I've been going through my post lists, and found some old started thoughts, that I forgot to actually publish, so if these are not current, that's why.

We had a fun Memorial Day, yesturday. We went over to Amy and Richard's house (my sister in law) and had a BBQ over there. Of course, it wasn't the best weather for the day, but we still had fun. It also happened to be Chris's birthday too!! So they kind of hosted a gathering for him. It was great because I didn't have to organize anything. Because this weekend we will host a BBQ after Smartie Pants is baptized. We'll have both of our families there so I'm glad we've got the back yard so that we can hang out there.

Katherine's 8 !!

Katherine had her birthday on May 23, and now she's 8!! Here is a page I've created so far from when she was a Newborn!! Wow, she's grown so much since then and has quite a personality.
