Crazy times in the snow.

I wish I had my camera with me today, because I couldn't believe it when I saw a few different kids with scooters in the SNOW!!! Like seriously do these people think they'll get much use out of their scooter, like is it really going to get them home that much faster. Or is it just some kind of habit that they just walked out of the house and grabbed it on the way. I mean, come on, it's like trying to push a shopping cart or a stroller through the slushy gross snow, and do we think it's that easy. I DON'T !!!

It's times like this when I wonder if this problem is the parents for not allowing it, or the child was just not listening in the first place. I kind of wanted to LAUGH, when I saw this kid while waiting to pick mine up from school, and he was wearing a backpack with his coat but was also PUSHING this scooter through the snow. I wonder how much longer it took him to get home that normal.

Oh wait, I get it, that was his workout for the day, so when he got home his parents wouldn't make him exercise/workout, and he could go straight for the video games.

All I know is... once it snows and there is snow and/or ice the bikes are put away, and the scooters, and they don't come out again, until the weather is good, like in the 60's again.

But along with odd scenes like that one, I also witnessed one girl lagging way behind the group she was "walking" with. The reason why, I guess she can't eat a snowball while walking. She was clearly holding a big lump of snow in her gloved hands and was taking big licks, or bites or something. Which is a common thing among children, heck when it's actually snowing my kids are always trying to catch the snowflakes in their mouths. I even have one daughter that used to go up to parked cars and lick the snow that sits on the car. What do you do?? Well, I'm grateful it wasn't yellow!!

And with the nice snowfall that we've received this last few days, it really is starting to feel like Christmastime. I've always wanted a "WHITE" Christmas ever since I was a kid, and to me a white Christmas is where you wake up to a fresh fallen layer of SNOW on Christmas Day. I've experienced that once in my life so far. I still wake up first thing and run to the window and check to see if I got my WHITE CHRISTMAS. When I grew up -- we never had a white Christmas. Heck you would get outside types of toys and actually be able to go outside and play with them, it'd be so warm still. So I guess there are pros and cons to each situation. But as long as I have my family with me, I'm sure it'll be great no matter what the conditions are.


Some other weird snow stories: well, my favorite memory is from when I was dating my husband, and he picked me up over his shoulder walked to the side of the yard we were at, and laid me down in the SNOW!!! How uncool is that. Well, actually it was quite COOL. But to make matters worse a roommate came over and rubbed snow in my face, and then I think a few others might have joined in.

I remember being in college my second year, and the street that I lived in was quite the hangout for our ward members, because the road would be so slick that they managed to start running in a path that would be so slick and they would slide for the length of a few house. I never actually did this, but it was sure entertaining to WATCH from inside my house I lived in. They even got so bold as to try some tricks, like human bowling, and then running and sliding on their butts, instead of staying on their feet. Sliding down and then jumping over someone laying in the way. IT WAS CRAZY!!!

I also had a roommate get asked out using the SNOW!!! It was crazy. Because I remember walking home from a class to my apartment in the Dorm and saw this red stuff in the snow. But not until I got upstairs did I realize what it said. Of course, it was asking her out.

But my all time favorite part about the snow is drinking the HOT CHOCOLATE afterwards.
And my all time LEAST FAVORITE part of the SNOW. DRIVING IN IT!!! I didn't really learn to drive in the snow until I moved to Provo. So I was already married with a few kids basically, and only left my house when I really had too!! But after having to drive kids to school, I've had to overcome my fear of driving in the snow. But it still makes my heart POUND when I start sliding, and am never sure if I'll stop without hitting something. YIKES!!!


But of course, I can't forget about making SNOW MEN with the kids, or sledding. Both of which my kids really enjoy. We have yet to go and do those things this winter, but I'm sure the time, and the right kind of snow will happen, eventually. And with the right kind of players, snowball fights are pretty fun too. But clearing off the car isn't !! So it isn't fair that I have to park in the weather, and my husband parks in the garage. He doesn't even get up earlier to go clean off my car so I don't have to. I mean come on, I have five kids I need to get in the car and then drive across town to drop the ones off at school. What am I to ever do??? Well at least, he helped a little when he bought me my new Ice SCRAPER!! This is like deluxe and is kind of an early Christmas present. It has an extension handle on it, a squeegee so I can get the window clean, and an angled head so I can easily clean off the top of the van with a little more ease. So I just might be okay this winter.

My new invention .....

After spending some time with some amazing women tonight. I discovered that I have a great "idea" for a new invention. But your curious??? Well, first off -- it might just be a seasonal item, sold mainly in the fall and winter months. And the target market would be females 18 and up.



Battery operated, and yes the batteries would be included. This item would aide the protection of women from possible attacks from deranged people, that have nothing better to do than be MEAN!! But this product would also provide some warmth. Which can mean a form of comfort. I'm sure it could come in just about any color possible and would come waterproof. (since it would be battery operated)

Well, I'll come back to this in a second, but right now I want to point a problem that I often encounter and then tell you the solution that I came up with.



THE PROBLEM??

It's winter!! It's COLD!! And as a WOMAN I have certain areas that tend to tell me it's too COLD!!!

LIKE MY ARMS --- THEY GET GOOSE BUMPS that seem to make a permanent home there, and don't leave until Spring. My FEET!!! Are always cold, and that's where snuggling in bed is a good thing. My husband has lots of body heat, and laying close to him -- my body seems to inhale all the heat he's giving off. Eventually I get warm again. But then there is the region of the body, that when it gets cold -- observant people can tell you ARE!! Unless you are wearing a big baggy shirt. I'm talking about the chest area. Any woman can probably tell you that when she gets cold, the there are like a serious monstrous goose bump on either side that have a hard time going away. So to compensate for the extreme cold I try to stand with my arms folded in front of my chest and then I try to keep warm there.

So any other guesses about my solution and the invention mentioned above???


An electric bra!!! It would be the ultimate winter time gear. Don't you think. It could keep you constantly warm and no one would ever wonder if you are COLD again. Unless you get goose bumps on you arms, or worse, ON YOUR FACE!!!

So what do you think?? Do I have a winner here or what????

So this bra would be designed to keep the chest warm, and have the battery located in between the breasts, and then there could be a way to program it to shock anyone that tries to "harm" or "hurt" you or "try to take advantage" of when they have no right to. I think this goes right up there with the tree that will grow money.



Okay so maybe it's a bit BIZARRE. Okay A LOT BIZARRE. But it sure was fun to talk about and think of the possibilities. This just goes to show you how crazy one woman can be when going sleep deprived and reaching states of deliriousness by dinner time almost everyday. Hey, if I didn't have conversations like this with others once in a while I'd seriously have to commit myself into a mental hospital because I couldn't vent out any of my frustration in fun and creative ways. Although I bet you wouldn't personally buy an item like this (for one I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap) I bet you had a great laugh, and now you feel better for having read this and laughed about it.

But if you fall in the percentage of people that will read this and think how dumb I must be, COME ON!! I know that you've had times where you've been silly and came up with off the wall stuff that made absolutely no sense at all but was FUNNY!!!


Hope you all take the time especially when your stressed to find a reason to laugh it seriously HELPS. That's why I married my husband, because he makes me laugh. Most of the time.

Looks like there's been talk of a bra like this one, so I guess it'll have to sit on the back burner. On to invent my next big money maker.

Spring time enjoyments

I haven't really fallen off the face of the earth!! I've just been outside enjoying it today!! My life will calm down this next week. And I'll be in control of certain elements of my life -- okay who am I really fooling?? I just take life as it hits me straight in the face!!! Well, I do have "ideas" and "projects" and too much "Clutter" to do anything about them. So I need to focus my efforts on decluttering and reorganizing so that I can be more productive in the next two weeks !!

I was able to go to the temple this afternoon, and then I came home and felt like taking a walk and so I just told the kids we were going on a walk and well, the walk ended up heading us to the park so the kids could play for a while. I got some really great shots of them at the park, and will hopefully be able to load those pictures by Monday!! I love nice "SUNNY SPRING DAYS" like today rather then those "SNOWY SPRING DAYS" like we've had a few off this last week.
What is with that?? I'm ready to be outside and get the garden going -- and a real one at that. We're going to take away some of our back yard to do a garden this year and I'm excited.

Then my kids wanted to do a "campfire" with our neighbor in a portable fireplace -- and they were all so tired that they came into the house, they brushed their teeth and came in a fell asleep with their blankets on the livingroom couch and floor. They were bushed!!! I like when they can just fall asleep so fast!! It seriously only took less then 10 minutes and we looked back at them and they were all ASLEEP!!! Now maybe I should go to bed myself. I do need to get some rest in order to get the most out of "wrestling" with a 1 year old at Stake conference tomorrow in the Provo Tabernacle.

CRAZY SPRING WEATHER!!!

So today was a nice day. But maybe if you thought that it was late fall or winter and were expecting this kind of weather. I woke up to SNOW!!! It's the last Sunday in March and it's supposed to be SPRING!!!! I can't say that I'm so grateful for it, but I guess we do need the moisture.

I'm very anxious for the spring to really come and stay!! I want to go outside and have it be 65 - 75 degrees outside and enjoy the pretty flowers and colors that come with this change in seasons. It's crazy how the weather works, and if I could really figure out how to program what I want and when I want it to happen that would be something grand. But I guess that is truly not something that will happen in reality, so I might better just go with the flow.

I also didn't like it that much because my windshield wiper totally flew off my car before I ever left my driveway!!! So I had to put the car in park and walk around just to find the wiper blade, and then I managed to get SNOW in my SHOES!!! And you all know that it quite COLD!!! But today ended up a pretty good day!! Even if it did SNOW!!!

The main reason being because my livingroom is cleaned, and the dishes are almost done!!!

Power Outage !!

Last night we got hit with a storm front that brought some hail and snow to us. Well at the tail end of us eating our dinner -- the power had flickered. When that happened I said that we needed to light a candle just in case the power went out. So we lit a candle and within 10 minutes or less the power was disconnected or turned off or something like that. I still don't know why the power went out. But this was about 10 till 7:00pm last night. We then lit a second candle -- to finish eating our dinner with.

Ethan needed a diaper change and we had no lights !!! So I had to get one of the girls to hold a flashlight so I could change his bum, and it was a nasty one too!! YUCK!!! I also couldn't let him down because I would lose him in the dark really easily. So someone had to hold him until I put him to bed. The kids starting asking questions about Christ dying and it being dark for three days, and wondering if that would happen again. Well we started discussing and then Chris decided to read the scriptures by candlelight and recounted that story in the scriptures.

It was kind of neat to be like the "pioneers" and not have the modern day "electricity" to entertain us. We had to warn them to dress well for sleeping because, with the power not on our furnace wouldn't ignite either. The power ended up being off for 2 hours and 45 minutes about. And the kids were asleep by 9 pm or a little sooner --- and Chris and I were almost asleep around 9:30pm last night when the power came back on.

It came on and of course, we didn't go around checking for lights on or off because the power was off --- We knew that the power was back on because our bedroom light lit up and then we ended up getting out of bed and staying awake another couple of hours.

I think I'll have to find a way to "turn the power off" everynight so that my kids will go to bed earlier because there is "Nothing" to do. Luckily we had heat before too long. Now this just makes me feel so bad for the people in Oklahoma where they haven't had power for nearly 2 weeks.

I never realized how much I take living in this day and age for granted until something your able to use at the flip of a switch is no longer available.
How in the world did the pioneers cross the plains in the middle of winter?? I have a hard enough time just walking a block or two in this freezing weather -- let alone a couple of thousand miles.

All I can say is WOW, ---- Hope that I can be more fearless and brave in the future.

Spring or Fall??

Well you would never guess just by looking at this picture that it was Autumn time outside. This is a picture that I took from one of my rose bushes just about two weeks ago. It was still warm enough that I had a rose bloom. These are of the variety Rosie O'Donnells -- I think that they are absolutely fabulous.
But just to the west of where I live you can see this, bare trees where leaves have already fallen and a few trees with leaves still hanging on. I love the different colors that you can see.
So pretty!!!

This is from a plant that I have in a planter on my front porch. I loved that those leaves actually turned colors as well.

The funnier thing is that I have Christmas lights now hanging on my rose bushes in the front and I have a blossoming rose. How crazy is that? But they sure are pretty.

Rash Update, and other ramblings...

Well, I made an appointment to take him in, only I watched throughout the day and the rash was really starting to disappear. So about an hour before the appointment time, I called to cancel it, I felt as though he would be just fine, and that it wasn't contagious or life threatening. I didn't want to go spend the copay just for the doctor to tell me, my instincts were right. (At least in this instance they were )

He's doing better now, and never skipped a beat. So I'm attributing the rash to some kind of contact dermatitis. No one else in the family has the rash, but we'll still keep our eyes peeled. But Ethan my 6 month old sounds like he's catching a cold, and I'm really hoping that it isn't RSV. His oldest sister has a cold right now, or at least a cough that doesn't sound very nice but she seems fine otherwise. So he sounds kind of wheezy -- hopefully it doesn't get worse. Poor guy :(

This time of year is terrible on kids, they are so used to running outside with short sleeves and most of the time without shoes and occasionally without all the clothes on, as in the summertime, but then the weather up and changes on them and they are still used to what they did while it was warm outside.

I thought about how all summer long we tell them to keep the front door cracked with the screen door closed. Why?? We have a swamp cooler and in order for the cooler to work right a draft needs to be present, without a place for the air coming in to draft out of the house, your house won't sufficiently cool. So we grill it in to their heads when the weather starts getting warm in the year and then when the seasons change and it starts getting cold and we need to winterize, such as keep doors closed, they are used to keeping them opened.

So now we've got to go back and reteach them to keep the door closed, so the cold air will stay out or at least keep most of it out, and keep the inside of the house warm. So it takes a while to ingrain this into their heads and you know the drill, by the time they start doing it well, and don't need to be reminded the season changes again. Poor little creatures, they must be absolutely exhausted at trying to do "the right thing". But hey, what perfect circumstances to teach them consistency!! Because the more reminding and training they get while they are younger, when they are older they'll know what to do, and isn't that what we want for our children after all --- is to get them to the point of being able to make the right choices without us, as parents, constantly telling them how, what or when to do something.

That's what I hope to achieve by the time I leave this earth, that my children will be good people and contributing members of society and will do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.

She tagged the couch !!!

Okay so yesturday I was so gratefully busy but very exhausted by the end of the day. While I was at their school for a meeting and to talk about the curriculum, my kinder was busy throwing up and running a fever and this is what I came home to. She tagged the couch cushion which I need to get washed --- agghhh. As if I'm not already needing to do a million other things.

It was rather annoying as you might suspect. So I thought I'd be in for a very long night!! But fortunately she slept all night without any problems, of course that meant that once she was asleep on the couch I wasn't moving her. So she stayed there all night!! Now of course she is feeling a lot better. But the school day is almost over and I want to make sure it is at least 24 hours or more since throwing up or signs of fever. I just really have a hard time dealing with sick kids.

I guess it's okay with one being sick but then as soon as they are better another one usually comes down with it. But then if the whole brood of kids is sick you really have no rest for at least a week. Or so that seems to be my experience, so here's wishing you a healthy Autumn and Winter seasons!!!

Aww -- I love the cooler weather!!

I am so excited that it's almost Autumn!! I love the changing colors on the trees, and I enjoy being outside!! It's starts turning into sweatshirt (which I love to wear) weather.



My kids seem to be a bit happier because it isn't 100 degrees outside -- they want to go on walks, and love walking through the leaves when they start falling of the trees. And they like this time of the year because they know that the "holidays" are right around the corner.



So first we have Halloween coming up in a little over a month!! I hate buying the costumes from the store so we try and figure out what they would like to be, and gather items from around the house or go to DI (thrift store) and put their costumes together for way cheap !!!

Than less than one month later we have Thanksgiving, where they look forward to Turkey and Apple Pie.

And one month beyond Thanksgiving we have Christmas --- well do I really need to bother telling you why they like Christmas?

For me I've decided that Christmas is my favorite, because I can decorate the house and I love Christmas lights on my house!!! Mainly because I never had Christmas lights on the home I grew up in, while living with my parents. I love Christmas Carols, and drinking hot chocolate!!! YUM!!!
