Night Time TUG OF WARS!!!

Am I the only one who has an ISSUE with how the DH sleeps with the blankets and such???

I go to bed every evening and always have the sheets and blankets on the right way and placed on the bed with the right amounts of material on each side of the bed. Mind you I have a King Sized Bed!!! -- SO IT'S BIG!!!

I usually end up getting up at least 2 - 3 times a night to tend to one or more of my children who haven't LEARNED to sleep all night, or need MY help to go POTTY in the middle of the night (more than once!!) So I get out of bed and angle my blankets to stay on my side of the bed, but as soon as I leave he's liked magnetized to my side and the half of the blankets that are for me. He must really know, and pretends that he doesn't, because all of the sudden I come back to get into the bed, and my sheets are tucked under his body and then I have to pry them from under him, which is no EASY task ( so I'm basically playing tug of war with his butt & legs). And then he migrates so that I'm left with only a foot of sleeping space on our KING SIZED BED!!!

We've been in the same bed together for over 10 years now, and I can't even imagine how we did it on the double beds that we had when we rented our first two apartments. AAGGHH!!! Of course, he claims I'm the one with the problem because I don't konw how to sleep with blankets, but the sweet guy just can't seem to roll over in his sleep and not get the sheets tucked and mummified around him. I on the other hand know when I'm rolling over and have always made sure that I don't get tangled in the sheets while I sleep. (Because that would reke havoc on my bladder if I really needed to go in the night and couldn't get out of bed fast enough)

He also ends up kicking off the covers and then I freeze during the night because they've been kicked off from me as well. The reason I know it's him??? Well the comforter is still somewhat by my feet on my side while his have completely fallen to the floor. Sometimes during the winter it's gotten so bad that we just each have our own blankets and even that ends up funny !!! He'll start taking mine from me and I have another tug of war with a sleeping man. (Or at least he appears to be asleep)

And I really like the fact that he snoozes his alarm because then I realize that I only have a few minutes before he gets out of bed, so I take it as my que to snuggle close and get back the lost body heat because of missing blankets. This is just one of those things that will probably be the same for the rest of our lives and something that we'll always be able to laugh about and make jokes about, but one of the things that I can't do anything to change. I guess I can say I'm glad that I have to play TUG OF WAR at night and know that he is there rather than not having him there for whatever reason. So to that DH I want to say I LOVE YOU and thanks for all the fun we've had.

He was such a sport for Halloween and this is how we dressed. Yes you guessed it if you thought MIB. And we were never here. **

I'm so engrossed ...

I've pretty much "WASTED" today away. For more than one reason. Thursday Night or should I say Friday morning, my BABY BOY woke up right before 3am and didn't go back to sleep until around 6:20am -- yeah, when it was almost time for me to get up anyway!! I had started cleaning up my kitchen since I wasn't getting to go back to sleep, and pretty much I had been awake since before 3am. I was quite tired already and the day hadn't really started. I made sure to tell my husband before work that I was pretty tired and then when he came home if sometime after 6pm I "crashed" into a slumber to LEAVE ME BE!!! I didn't get much rest on Friday because we decided to hold Heidi's "belated" birthday party from last month so she could celebrate with some friends. After the party I cleaned up the mess, we ate dinner -- which DH made !! and then I said, after dinner I'm going to hybernate in my room and don't want to be disturbed. I ended up going to sleep around 8pm !! I slept good and didn't hear any of the kids really until about 5am on Saturday morning. I came out to see what was happening and DH was sitting on the couch with BABY BOY in his arms and was trying to get him to go to sleep again. Not to mention that all the kids were asleep here as well (FRIDAY MOVIE NIGHT) - Thomas didn't have his "bedtime" pullup on so he had awaken as well because he "wet" himself on my floor, and all DH could say was "oh, I forgot about that" --- my comeback??? "Well, that's why you need to take your turn at this more often so your more 'practiced' " he just laughed.

I was grateful that he did allow me to sleep all that time and not be interupted. I haven't had that since Mid July!! It was great. The other reason I've "wasted" my day was that I didn't feel well for most of it and had no desire to do ANYTHING, except ...... read New Moon. I read it like all day and didn't make meals didn't clean anything --- heck I barely put daytime clothes on even though I wanted to remain in PJ's all day. I have been lucky enough to force myself on a walk mostly for selfish reasons --- to find someone in my neighborhood that had a copy of Eclipse that I could borrow, and luckily I found one ---- so now I'm starting into book number 3!! I don't know why I can't put it down!!! I guess that is when you know it's a good read. Maybe it's the sure thrill of the "danger" without getting too involved physically. Who knows?? For once it's a little after 10pm and all the kiddos are asleep and DH is on his nightly walk the the Amber --- our dog!! Yes, we do have a DOG, we've had her for well a few months longer than we've had Heidi so over 6 years now!!

So it's quiet and I could go read some more, only I need to make some rolls or something to take for a potluck tomorrow. Aghh!! I don't know for sure what I want to bring. But the rolls are tempting especially because I just made a few batches of Jam this last week. It's to die for. Peach Strawberry, and Peach Raspberry. YUM YUM

Sleep Deprived

It's time to VENT !!! I'm going on about 3 hours of sleep !!! Yes, my child that just turned one ended up having double ear infections when I took him in for his 1 year check up on the 11th of April !!! I didn't even know he had any problems other than the fact that he was extremely fussy, CRANKY!! and very irritable -- but I just thought it was from teething. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! Some of it was probably from teething but man he'd throw a fit while I was holding him, and want down and then I'd put him down and then he'd want right back up. All the while screaming his head off!!! So on Sunday night I took him into the afterhours clinic and they checked his ears again and they aren't as good as they should be after being on an antibiotic for nearly 10 days!!! So she gave me a different Rx and then last night (Monday the 21st) he was HORRIBLE -- and that might just be an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! He is still screaming today and I'm so TIRED!!! I just want to have my fun little boy back!!! He hasn't been happy in about 3 weeks now!!! I'm SAD !!

I say Chris can put the older kids to bed tonight because if I can get the baby to sleep finally -- I'm going to CRASH myself!!! These are not the times that I appreciate being a MOM!!! I like the other side of the emotion -- being happy, fun, and well rested!!!

But, But , But ...........

This is my Kindergartner Heidi -- on the very first day of school she had some hesitations, and was being kind of clingy. Check out that look !!

This was Kaylee my third grader and of course she had no problems at all -- actually she was all to anxious to get rid of me.
This is Katherine my 2nd grader and she was already to get to work with sitting at her desk and all.

My daughter who is in Kindergarten this year finally experienced three consecutive days in a row of going to school !! Poor thing, she so wasn't used to it because after she had gone to school on Wednesday and then on Thursday, she came home and was so grumpy and exhausted.

Being a mom, I could sense that something wasn't right with her, and asked her if she wanted to rest outside before attempting to do her homework? She wanted to, so I let her -- she was tired and when my children are tired they get "MOODY" much like their mother. So I had to change my whole approach with her that day and spent some time giving her some hugs and cuddle time. Maybe the long day is great for me, but to a five year old it might be a bit tough. But I think she just isn't used to it yet.

Now maybe she can learn to go to sleep at night when she is supposed to so that she will get enough rest for school the next day.

I've come to realize that children try their hardest and use every attempt at not going to bed. There are so many stall tactics !!! I need to use the bathroom, I forgot to brush my teeth, I'm thirsty, ---- and the list goes on and on, so I'm wondering what your favorite bedtime stall "excuse/tactic" is?

My oldest daughter is notorious for telling me --- "I didn't eat breakfast today!!" (SHE's 8)
